Females can lay between 5-12 eggs. These eggs are laid in the soil around the host plants. There are five larval development stages. The first four happen in the soil. The larva feed on the root of the host plants. in the fifth stage, the larva starts to build a cocoon in the soil. The larva then stays inside of the cocoon until it transforms into a pupa, which takes about 15 months. The pupal stage lasts only about three months. where it will remain in the cocoon for one month before emerging. An adult has a life span of about one month.
